Dare to Dream: What Are You Waiting For?

As I continue down the beginning of this journey of taking time for myself everyday, I found myself thinking about what I would do for me today.  I realized I had already done it.  I worked!  That’s right.  I worked and that was my “me” time.  You see, for several years I have dreamed of owning a successful business and blogging.  I love to write my thoughts down and blogging has seemed the best way for me to do that.  So for me to “work” on my blog, developing the site better and writing posts was me working on my dream.

As a mom I often find myself sacrificing my dreams for those of my children.  Would I want it any different?  No, not really.  But I find it refreshing to be working and going after something for me this time. In Jeremiah 29:11 God tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

My Future

Up until now I have somewhat questioned my future.  I really do enjoy being a stay at home mom despite the difficulties it sometimes presents.  I really love being my own boss and setting my schedule according to my family and not the constraints of the corporate world.  But I had the moments I felt as though something in me was missing.  Something wasn’t complete.  I know I won’t be completed until the day I’m standing in Heaven, but I felt I had more to offer the here and now.  This blog, is that little piece.  My children and my husband are my future, my destiny and this is my way to share that with others.  I can contribute to my family by writing words on a page.

The Legacy my blog will bring

This blog will hopefully bring a legacy for my kids.  Showing them to not be afraid to go after the desires of their heart.  Do you encourage your kids to dream?  Do you want them to succeed and have everything they truly want?  God says “Delight yourself in the Lord, And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart” Psalm 37:4.  My heart’s desire is to have a successful blog.  And, if I’m going to be honest, to make money to help my family through my blog.  The biggest desire of my heart is to see my kids fulfill their dreams.  I don’t want anything to hold them back.  So my hope and prayer for them is they can see me chasing my dreams through words on a screen and they will know their dreams are possible.  That they can be anything they put their mind and effort into whether that is soccer star or a mechanic or anything else they dream up.  My blog is a bigger legacy than I imagined when it was placed on my heart and I think than I can even see right now.

Dream the dream

I encourage you today, whether you are a single mom working several jobs, a stay at home mom wanting to be a little more connected, a corporate dad who needs a change, part of a two income household doing the best you can, to go after your dreams.  Go after your heart’s desire.  I dare you to dream.  I dare you to give your heart’s desires to God and see what He does.  You might be surprised.  I was.  I never thought I would be sitting at home developing web pages and writing this way.  But more and more it was becoming clear that I had a dream.  Now here it is.  And you are reading it.  You are part of my dream.  Dreams can come true.  So I say it again,  I dare you to dream.  I dare you to take your 15 minutes of me time to think about your dreams and desires.  It’s okay.  Really.  You’re not selfish.  You are worth more and worth it. After you dream share with me what your dreams are if you are comfortable doing so.  Share what you did for YOU today.
